House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why… These are just some of the most popular TV series today. But the thing is, they’re not really shown on “regular TV”. They’re streamed on NETFLIX. But wait, some of you may not really know what Netflix is! Let me break it down for you.
What is Netflix?
Netflix is an (American) entertainment company that’s widely popular for their video streaming service. Netflix is an app. Netflix is a website. Netflix is a subscription service. Netflix is now a permanent partner of the word “chill” (Read: Netflix and chill). Netflix has effectively challenged the TV and movie landscape. Netflix has revolutionized how people consume media by making it available on demand.
If you want a quick rundown of what Netflix is and my overall opinions about my experience with it, please watch the video below.
How much does a Netflix subscription cost?
For easier reference, here is a snapshot of the subscription packages on Netflix Philippines. This is from their website. For myself, I chose the Standard Package at 460 PHP per month. It’s a good deal if you plan to watch on a big laptop or desktop screen, or on your Smart TV at home.
I like Netflix. Wait, scratch that. I LOVE NETFLIX! It gives me the freedom to watch a whole bunch of shows on my most convenient time. I admire the level of excellence on their Netflix specials, and I love the fact that they have some of my old favorite shows. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that I can discover shows, movies and documentaries that I’ve never even heard of. It’s kinda like YouTube browsing but with more meat, muscle and sense.
If you don’t have cable at home and you don’t have a TV, (and IF you have a good internet connection) this is a great option.
If you already have a cable subscription, you may have to think twice because it will double your “TV” expenses.
Nonetheless, it’s a definite must-try!
